Merchant Banking
GIB’s Merchant Banking group is responsible for the bank’s customer business in its core GCC market. Its role is central in ensuring that the bank’s approach to the target market is thorough and consistent.
Dedicated relationship managers coordinate client coverage across all product areas. Risk-adjusted profitability at the customer level is used as a tool to encourage long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships.
The Merchant Banking group has product responsibility for:
- Wholesale commercial financing
- Project and structured financing
- Islamic banking
- Investment banking
- Syndications
- GCC-bond market origination
- GCC-market asset trading
In addition, Merchant Banking includes an International Banking team that serves non-GCC clients. The team is active mainly in trade finance and contract guarantees, which are offered to European and North American institutions and corporations with ties to the Gulf market. It also has excellent relationships with banks and other financial institutions in North Africa and the Near East
