Caution: e-mail and website fraud

GIB advises caution against fraudulent e-mails and websites

The name, logo and address of Gulf International Bank B.S.C., and of its subsidiary Gulf International Bank (UK) Limited, the acronym GIB, as well as the names of their staff and officers are being used in attempts to defraud the public, through e-mails or letters proposing various schemes, announcing results of fake lotteries or other windfalls, and/or requiring an advance payment in connection with an unexpected money transfer supposedly to be made through GIB. The Bank is also aware of fraudulent websites that are misusing its name or the names of members of its staff.

These schemes refer recipients to phone numbers, e-mail addresses and websites purporting to be those of GIB, and go as far as using the names of members of management.

GIB would like to remind the public that it is not a commercial retail bank, but rather a wholesale bank whose client base is composed mostly of major corporations, and that it does not conduct business transactions over the open and insecure internet and it does not issue Credit, Debit or ATM cards. GIB strongly cautions the public against sending money, personal and corporate information or disclosing bank or credit card details to any person who claims to represent GIB.

GIB is not connected in any way to such scams, and cannot be held responsible if its corporate name, logo, address and other identity details of GIB or those of its management and staff are misused in schemes intended to defraud the public. If you consider that you have been the victim of fraud, we recommend that you report any complaint to your local law enforcement authority.
